Happenings at Skylark September 2023

Grab your lederhosen for Skylark's 2nd annual OktOpera Fest!

Only three weeks until Skylark's second annual OktOpera Fest Fundraiser (Oktoberfest + Opera= OktOpera Fest)! Join us at Fat Pants Brewing Co., 8335 Crystal View Road, Eden Prairie, September 25th for a night of fun, opera trivia, food, beer, and beautiful music, supporting Skylark's intimate, unique brand of opera. New Artistic Director James Barnett leads a romping program of Strauss waltzes with soprano Leann Scheuring. Pianist Lara Bolton also joins Barnett at the piano for some delicious, four-hand rollicks.

The festivities start at 5:30pm. Light snacks will be provided, with more substantial food available for purchase from Fat Pants' in-house "food truck." Your first beer, wine, or draft root beer is on us, included in the $30 ticket price. Get details and purchase tickets at skylark.booktix.net.

Warm your hearts with The Gift of the Magi, opening 12/15

This holiday season, Skylark Opera Theatre will perform David Conte's opera The Gift of the Magi, December 15-17, 2023. Based on O. Henry's classic short story, this much-loved tale of a young couple’s struggle to find the perfect Christmas gift gains even more emotional power from composer Conte's gorgeous melodies: "...music of grand romantic feeling...a lush spectacle of extravagant lyricism...soaring duets and arias of Puccinian exuberance..." (Ching Chang, San Francisco Classical Voice).

Skylark will present five performances of The Gift of the Magi at the Lab Theater in the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists; 16 W 5th St, St Paul, MN 55102.
