Happenings at Skylark January 2022
Greetings for the New Year
Skylark Opera Theatre is gearing up for 2022! Even though we were experiencing life during a pandemic, 2021 offered Skylark Opera Theatre opportunities to thrive. We were able to bring the amazing vocal talents of our performers to senior residents through our Skylark for Seniors program, and we returned to live-stage productions with nine performances of Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors in December. In 2022 you will find us continuing to offer our unique brand of opera and music theater to Twin Cities audiences. There will be live-stage productions and a continuation of Skylark for Seniors. Stay connected and up-to-date with Skylark on our website. We hope to see you at a Skylark Opera Theatre performance in 2022!
Cast and artistic staff set for Eugene Onegin
Skylark Opera Theatre’s production of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin will open on March 25th, with performances March 25-27 and April 1-3, 2022, at The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis. Gary Briggle will once again bring his artistic interpretation and directing skills, and Carson Rose Schneider her music talents, to an exciting adaptation of this classic tale of the tragic consequences of unrequited love and social class conflicts. Set in Russia in the 1820’s, it is teeming with themes that have relevance for today’s world.
Skylark Opera’s production includes a stellar cast of Minnesota-based, vocal artists: Eric Smedsrud (Eugene Onegin), Elena Stabile (Tatyana), Briana Moynihan (Olga), Benjamin Dutcher (Lenski), Colleen O’Shaugnessy (Larina), KrisAnne Weiss (Filippyevna), James Ahrens (Triquet/Guillot), Momoko Tanno (Yelena), and Robert Riordan (Petrovich/Saretski/Gremin).
Watch for announcements of ticket sales on Skylark’s website (skylarkopera.org), and on Facebook and Instagram.
