Happenings at Skylark - January 2023

Celebrating 2022—Ushering in 2023

Skylark Opera Theatre had a busy 2022. Thanks to the support of all of you, Skylark presented a sold-out production of Eugene Onegin at The Museum of Russian Art, continued our Skylark for Seniors performances at senior residences throughout the Twin Cities area, wowed fair-goers at the Minnesota State Fair, presented the US premiere of the beer opera BESSE, and finished the year with a joyful production of Amahl and the Night Visitors.

We are excited to bring you another year of Skylark’s unique brand of intimate, immersive, classic and contemporary opera and music theater in 2023. We’ll begin with a production of Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers May 12-14 and 19-21 at the Jungle Theater. In October, we'll honor Stephen Sondheim with Marry Me a Little. In the interim, Skylark performers will again entertain seniors at senior residences and care facilities throughout the Twin Cities area with our Skylark for Seniors program. Watch for announcements of ticket sales for Three Decembers on our webste.

Skylark’s Production of Eugene Onegin Recognized as One of 2022's Best

We are proud to announce that Skylark’s 2022 reinvention of Eugene Onegin for the intimate performance space at The Museum of Russian Art has been recognized as one of the year’s best site-specific theater productions by Cherry and Spoon, which praised it as “incredibly moving and musically gorgeous.” Eugene Onegin was also one of only three nominees for Broadway World’s 2022 Regional Awards in the category of “Best Production of an Opera” in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
