Happenings at Skylark August 2024
Marry Me a Little opens in one week, August 8
Listen to the stars tell why you'll love it
Bergen: "a beautiful story of the arc of a relationship...a great date night..."
Max: "[Sondheim] is our modern Shakespeare...surprisingly relevant..."
Stephen Sondheim’s Marry Me a Little opens August 8 at The Crane Theater, 2303 Kennedy St NE, Minneapolis.
Three reasons not to miss it:
This sweet musical revue of rarely heard Sondheim "trunk songs"* has something for everyone, exploring the ideas of love, loneliness, and connection.
It features two of the Twin Cities' best singer/actors, Bergen Baker and Max Wojtanowicz, a terrific stage director, Nikki Swoboda, and the incredible talent of Skylark’s Artistic Director, James Barnett, at the piano.
It’s a perfect summer afternoon or evening out. Take Bergen's advice and pair the show with brunch, lunch, or dinner at one of Northeast's many restaurants. Click here for some ideas.
Marry Me a Little plays for three evening performances (August 8th, 9th and 10th) and two matinee performances (August 10th and 11th). Tickets and details at skylark.booktix.net.
*Trunk song: a song written for a musical that doesn't end up in the final version, usually for reasons of length or because it no longer fits the story or character as the show develops. These songs go back into the composer's trunk!
Coming Up October 2nd: Third Annual OktOpera Fest
Skylark’s annual evening of beer, food and OPERA is happening at Fat Pants Brewing Co. in Eden Prairie. This light-hearted and fun-filled night features games like Opera Trivia and Name That Tune, food and beer. Buy a mystery box or two—you never know the treasures you’ll find inside. Baritone Jeremiah Sanders and soprano Victoria Koroljev will perform a one-hour program of highlights from Kurt Weill’s "Broadway opera" Lost in the Stars and other selections, with Skylark’s Artistic Director, James Barnett on piano.
